Rollow's Homerun Lifts Roos to Doubleheader Split on Senior Day; Enter WAC Tourney as 5th Seed

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC softball team (26-27, 6-12) split its WAC doubleheader on the final day of the Regular season with Grand Canyon (30-22, 12-6) on Saturday at Urban Youth Academy.

In game one, Grand Canyon struck first with two runs in the second, while the Roos left five runners on in the first two innings.

In the third, though, Alexis D’Ambrosio doubled off the wall in centerfield to knock in Faith Willis, while Maegan Rollow followed with a two-run bomb to left that put the Roos ahead 3-2.

Kailyn Packard, meanwhile, shut the Lopes out over the final five innings to pick up her eighth win of the season.

In the late game, GCU won 11-0 in five innings.

The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on May 8-11 when they head to Phoenix, Ariz., for the WAC Softball Championships.

The Roos enter the event as the No. 5 seed where they will open on Wednesday with a 4:30 p.m. CT contest against No. 4 seed Utah Valley.  With a win, the Roos will face No. 1 seed Seattle U on May 9 at 12:30 p.m. CT in the double elimination tournament, while with a loss, UMKC will play at 9:30 p.m. CT on May 9 in an elimination game.
