KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC track & field teams continued their outdoor season this weekend when they took part in the Husker Spring Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.

On the women’s side, three Roos posted top-five all-time results in UMKC history.

Matia Finley notched the fifth best mark in school history in the shot put at 13.14m, while in the 1,500-meter run Katherine Hanners’ time of 4:40.57 was also fifth in the record books and good for second in the event.  Carolyn Ross, meanwhile, won the 400-meter hurdles in a school record time of 1:00.17

"I was really happy with my performance this weekend,” Ross said.  “Although I didn’t run my ideal race, I’m thankful to have gotten the school record. Even though there is room for improvement, I think that this meet was a great confidence booster."

"I’m happy we had some good weather this week, it really helps my performance,” Traci Mills, who finished fourth in the 100-meter dash, and third in both the triple jump and the 4x100-meter relay, said.

“I want to continue to progress every week to get that regional mark and to help my team out in conference."

For the men, Max Selbach claimed the title in the 3,00-meter run in a time of 8:50.40 and Bryce Miller won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:24.41.

Perry Adderley, meanwhile, finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 16.58m, third in school history.

The Blue & Gold will be back in action again next week at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark..
