KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC volleyball team (13-8, 4-3) dropped its match with Chicago State (8-14, 2-4), 3-2, on Thursday at the Jones Convocation Center in Chicago, Ill.

Melanie Brecka finished with a career-high 20 kills, one of four Roos in double figures, hitting .340, with three blocks, while Alicia Harrington added 14 kills, 11 digs and three blocks, Tyrecia Lukes finished with 13 kills, five digs and five blocks and Brooke Jacobs added 10 kills and four blocks.

In the match, UMKC dropped the first set 25-22 and the second set 25-23, falling behind 2-0.

In set three, Kynnedy Myers capped the 25-19 win with a dump kill off a Rhegan Spiegel dig, while in set four, the Roos evened the match at 2-2 with a 26-24 win.

In the deciding set, CSU built a 10-6 lead and extended it to five at 14-9.  An Alex Ratzlaff kill and a Lukes block brought the Roos to within three, but the final point went to the Cougars.

Setting up the offense, Alli Schomers and Myers each had 29 assists with Myers adding nine digs and Schomers five.  Ratzlaff, meanwhile, finished with 15 digs, seven kills, and three blocks and Spiegel matched her with 15 digs.

The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Saturday when they take on Seattle U, at 3 p.m. CT in Seattle.
