KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC women’s tennis (8-8) is set to open up Western Athletic Conference play when they head to Edinburg, Texas, on Mar. 23-25 for matches with UTRGV, Seattle U and Chicago State.

The Roos return to action this week when they head to Texas for the first cluster of WAC play.
Last week, the Roos picked-up their first ever win when they beat Iowa State, 5-2, at the Plaza. For her efforts in the victory, senior Aliona Ladutska was named WAC Singles Player of the Week, her third honor of the season.
The Vaqueros enter the match with seven wins on the season as they have knocked-off Prairie View A&M, Texas A&M – Kingsville, UTSA, Lamar, Incarnate Word, Texas A&M – Corpus Christi and New Mexico.
Seattle U, meanwhile, has posted six wins on the season, beating Cal State Stanislaus, Montana State, Lewis-Clark State College, North Dakota, Northern Colorado and Illinois State.
Chicago State enters the weekend with a 4-13 record on the year, picking up wins over Green Bay, Detroit, Purdue Northwest and Howard.
Up Next: The Blue & Gold will conclude WAC play when they head to Seattle, Wash., on Apr. 7-8 to take on Grand Canyon and New Mexico State.
