Roos Set to Compete at Two-Day Gorilla Classic

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The UMKC men’s and women’s track and field teams will travel to Pittsburg State this weekend for the two-day Gorilla Classic beginning on Friday afternoon.

The meet will feature 21 student-athletes from both the women’s and men’s squads. A majority of the Roos competing will be focused in one or two individual events, while each team will enter a group into the 4x400-meter relays.

On the women’s side, Carolyn Ross will be the busiest as the sophomore is set to compete in four individual events and the relay for UMKC. Teammates Blessing Oparaji and Genel Rollins will also be extremely busy, battling in four events of their own.

For the men, reigning Western Athletic Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, Christopher Bryan, will be joined by Zane Lockhart in three individual events. Several other student-athletes will represent the Roos in a pair of events, including Chadayne Walker, Jacob Hockman and Fred Boyd.
