KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC women’s basketball team (0-4) will wrap up the month of November with road games at Illinois State (1-2) on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. CT and at Kansas on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. CT.

UMKC heads into the week looking to build some momentum before returning to Swinney Recreation Center for its first home games of the season. The first four games in a tough six-game road stretch to open the year have the Roos battle tested and prepared for another pair of challenging nonconference opponents.

Aries Washington (Kansas City, Mo.) has led the team on the offensive end through the first four games of the 2017-18 campaign. The senior guard has averaged a team-best 16 points per game, shooting 38.8% from the field in addition to leading the team in shooting 85% from the free throw line.

Kristen Moore (Chicago, Ill.) has also provided the Roos with a spark on both ends of the floor in the early portion of the schedule. Moore currently sits just behind Washington in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game. Additionally, the Preseason All-WAC Second-Team selection leads the team with three blocked shots 6.5 rebounds per game.

UMKC has gone through a stretch of tough shooting luck in their past two contests but will look to get back on track in the two games. The Roos put together an impressive second half in their previous matchup with Iowa State, outscoring the Cyclones 30-22 and using a relentless full-court pressure to force a season-high 21 turnovers in the game. UMKC will look to build off the strong finish as they take on a pair of quality opponents.

Talbot, also a 6-2 forward, sits second on the team at 12.7 points per game, shooting a solid 45.2% from the field. Kansas will play host to Rice prior to the matchup with UMKC. The Jayhawks took home a convincing win over Delaware State in their last contest, winning by a final score of 81-49. Junior guard Kylee Kopatich has been a major weapon for the Jayhawks thus far, averaging a team-best 20 points per game to go along with 3.8 assists and 6.8 rebounds per game. Kopatich has put up her impressive scoring totals with great efficiency, shooting 51.2% from the field and 47.2% from three-point distance. Kansas has out-rebounded their opponents by over 14 rebounds a game so staying keeping the Jayhawks off the glass will be imperative for the Roos. The last matchup between the teams occurred in the 2015-16 season, resulting in a 47-44 road win for UMKC.

The Roos will kick off the month of December with their home opener against Lincoln University on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. CT before hosting Oral Roberts on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. CT. Both games will be broadcast on the WAC Digital Network free of charge.
