UMKC Closes Out Regular Season with Trips to UVU and Seattle U

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC volleyball team will close out its regular season slate when it takes on Utah Valley and Seattle U this week.  The match with the Wolverines is slated for Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. CT in Orem, Utah, while Saturday’s match in Seattle is scheduled for a 3 p.m. CT first serve.

About the Roos UMKC comes into the weekend with an 9-16 mark on the season and a 5-7 record in conference action, picking up wins over Grand Canyon, Chicago State (twice), Seattle and UTRGV.  Four Roos have topped the 100-kill mark on the season, including 261 from Alicia Harrington (Cedar Falls, Iowa), 198 from Mykal Sadler (Des Moines, Iowa), 182 from Alex Ratzlaff (Hillsboro, Kan.) and 130 from Brooke Jacobs (Peoria, Ill.).  In the back row, Rhegan Spiegel (Savannah, Mo.) has a team-high 354 digs with Ratzlaff chipping in 256 and Harrington adding 237.


About the Wolverines

Utah Valley enters the match with a 12-15 record overall and a 7-5 mark in WAC play, good for a fourth place standing in the conference.  Lexi Thompson leads the Wolverine offense with 339 kills, while Madison Dennison has added 274 kills.  Three others, meanwhile, have topped 100 kills.  Sierra Starley sets up the offense with 937 assists and in the back row, Seren Merrill leads the squad with 392 digs.


About the Redhawks

Seattle U comes into the weekend with identical marks to the Roos at 9-16 overall and 5-7 in WAC play.  Katarina Marinkovic is one of five Redhawks with 100 or more kills, leading the squad with 321, while defensively, Maja Stojanovic and Katarina Glavinic have tallied 89 and 83 blocks, respectively.  Shae Harris sets up the offense with 879 assists and Tijana Milojevic has a team-best 441 digs.


Up Next The Blue & Gold will head to the WAC Volleyball Championship in Edinburg, Texas, where they will enter the event on Nov. 16 as the No. 5 or No. 6 seed.
