VALENTINE, Neb. -- The UMKC men’s golf team closed out play in the Jackrabbit Invitational with a 10th place finish at the Prairie Club behind Francois Lagraulet’s (Bordeaux, France) second straight top-10 finish of the season.
The Frenchman climbed once spot in the final round of play to tie for sixth individually after a 70 on the day. Opening on No. 9, Lagraulet immediately moved to -2 with back-to-back birdies and two holes later added his third of the round. The junior then added back-to-back birdies again on Nos. 5 and 6 before three straight pars to close out the event.
McCain Schellhardt (Edmond, Okla.) finished as the next lowest Roo, in a tie for 39th, with a four birdie final round, while Sam Humphreys (Edmond, Okla.) finished in 64th on the individual leaderboard.
Paul Foulquie (Paris, France), matched Schellhardt with four birdies in the final round with each player birdieing Nos. 3 and 5.
Taylor Larsen (Garden City, Kan.), meanwhile, closed out the tournament in 74th spot with a pair of birdies in the final round of action.
Playing as an individual, Raphael Lapierre-Messier (Quebec, Canada) carded his second straight round of 68 to climb into a tie for 37th on the leaderboard after a final round with six birdies, including four straight on the opening four holes of the front nine.
Santa Clara claimed the team title in the event by three shots over Tennessee, while the Broncos Hayden Shieh was the wire-to-wire winner by shot.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Oct. 9-10 when they return home for the annual Bill Ross Intercollegiate at the Milburn Country Club in Overland Park, Kan.
