UMKC Completes Opening Round at Johnie Imes Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The UMKC women’s golf team began play today in the opening round of the Johnie Imes Invitational at the Old Hawthorne Club, sitting in 14th place entering round two.

Chandler Gallagher (Kansas City, Mo.) led the Roos on the opening day of play, shooting a 75 with four birdies in the round, two on each of the front and back nine and sits in a tie for 27th individually

Maria Henao (Pereira, Colombia), meanwhile, is two shots back of her in a tie for 41st spot with a day one 77 that included birdies on the par-4’s of Nos. 5 and 8.

Cyrielle Kern (Curvy, France) also finished the opening day of play in a tie for 41st place with a 77 that included birdies on the par-4’s of Nos. 5 and 13, while Celine Lim (Shah Alam, Malaysia) finished one shot back in a tie for 55th place after carding a 78 with a back nine that featured three total birdies and back-to-back birdies on Nos. 16 and 17.

Victoria Pavlik (San Antonio, Texas), meanwhile, rounded out the UMKC lineup with an 81 featuring four birdies, including back-to-back birdies on Nos. 12 and 13 and now sits tied for 69th.

Missouri holds the team lead in the event by five shots over North Texas, while Missouri State’s Verena Gimmy is the individual leader.
