About the Roos
The Roos return 11 starters in the fall to a roster that features three seniors – Chris Betancourt (Weston, Fla.), Eric McWoods (St. Louis, Mo.) and Eddie Howe (St. Louis, Mo.). The 2017 season marks the 20th under the direction of Rick Benben. UMKC boasts a 34-24-4 (.581) record at its home facility and will play the most home matches in a single season at Durwood Soccer Stadium, hosting 11 opponents this season.
UMKC opened the 2017 campaign with back-to-back shutout victories against Central Arkansas and Northwestern. The Roos 2-0 record marks the first time UMKC has won back-to-back matches since the 2014 season and the first time that the program has captured a win over a Big Ten opponent in school history.
McWoods was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after finishing the weekend with eight shots, two goals, two assists and a conference-leading six points. He also played a combined 160 minutes on the pitch for UMKC.

He is also joined by Big Ten All-Preseason selection and fellow classmate Niel Guzman and Big Ten All-Freshman honoree Tim McQuaid. Rutgers is 0-2 to begin the season after falling at No. 2 Wake Forest and No. 4 North Carolina.
