MESA, Ariz. – UMKC men's golf finished aims to defend its league title at the Western Athletic Conference Championship Friday – Sunday at Longbow Golf Club. The Roos enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed in the WAC's pre-championship poll.
All three rounds will have slotted tee times beginning at 10 a.m. CT. Longbow is a Par 71 course spanning 7,050 yards.
The Roos lineup will feature Hubert Tisserand (Lyon, France), McCain Schellhardt (Edmond, Okla.), Sam Humphreys (Edmond, Okla.), Thibault Vieilledent (Cannes, France) and Jakob Garstecki (Germantown, Wis.).
Tisserand leads the group in stroke average (74.56), followed by Schellhardt (74.67), Humphreys (74.87), Vieilledent (75.33) and Garstecki (75.63).
Last season, UMKC claimed the team title by 16 strokes, finishing at 12-under par at Loomis Trail Golf Club in Blaine, Washington. Former standout and current professional Antoine Rozner won the individual title by seven strokes, also finishing at 12-under. The Roos advanced to the NCAA Regional hosted by Oklahoma State and Rozner advanced to the NCAA Championship, tying for eighth individually to earn All-American honors.
Seattle U was picked to win the tournament in the pre-championship poll, receiving six of seven first-place votes. UMKC received the other first-place pick.
