UMKC Travels to Northwest Missouri for Rescheduled Match

MARYVILLE, Mo. – UMKC women’s tennis (10-8) will play a makeup match at Northwest Missouri State (7-11) Thursday afternoon. The Roos and Bearcats will face off at 3 p.m. CT at the Frank Grube Tennis Courts.

UMKC is coming off of an impressive 4-3 shorthanded victory over Creighton on Tuesday at the Plaza Tennis Center. Freshman Yana Grechkina (Vladimir, Russia) has won nine consecutive singles matches and is 10-4 overall while playing at the No. 3 – No. 5 spots, primarily at No. 4. Aliona Ladutska (Minsk, Belarus) is 7-6 on the No. 1 court. Mariam Kurasbediani (Tbilsi, Georgia) is 8-8 overall, including a 6-3 mark in No. 3 play.

On the doubles courts, Melinda Johnson (Overland Park, Kan.) and Grechkina are 8-6 in No. 1 competition. Grechkina and Ladutska earned their first No. 1 tandem win on Tuesday.

UMKC closes the regular season with Senior Day vs. Saint Louis Friday, April 21 at 2 p.m. CT at the Plaza Tennis Center. The Western Athletic Conference Tournament is April 28-30 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
