KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UMKC men’s tennis begins the spring slate Saturday with a 12 p.m. match against William Jewell at the Kansas City Racquet Club.

The Roos will play 11 matches during nonconference action before starting the Western Athletic Conference schedule vs. UT Rio Grande Valley on March 24 in Phoenix, Arizona.

UMKC’s roster features six upperclassmen and two freshmen. Last season, the Roos finished 17-8 overall, 4-1 in the WAC and 10-2 at home while claiming the WAC regular season title. Senior Uldis Gaismins (Riga, Latvia) and junior Airam Castellano (Gran Canaria, Spain) both were first-team All-WAC singles and doubles players last spring. Castellano was the WAC Player of the Year.
