UMKC tennis continues taking on Europe. Both the women's and men's teams started their fourth and last day in Barcelona with an early 9 a.m. hit for one last time before heading to Montpellier, France. Both teams had an hour and a half of intensity on hard courts this morning to get ready for competition in France.
Today we practiced on the clay to start our morning. We took a short break at the hotel and left for lunch near the central street of La Rambla. Many of us got to try new food that we've never eaten, such as squid.
On the second day of the Roos Euro trip, we started by visiting the Palau Nacional (Catalan for National Palace), built in 1926. The 91-year-old structure is currently host of the National Art Museum. Later on, the Roos went on to visit the Olympic Park where the 1992 Olympics took place. The main stadium was used until 2009 by soccer club Espanyol, but is nowadays used as an interactive exhibition. The guests get to experience the taste of playing a few sports such as shooting, archery, boxing, mini-soccer and even wheelchair racing in an Olympic scenery. As athletes, it was very exciting for us to experience simulating a sport in an Olympic stadium.
