UMKC (9-11, 2-2) men's basketball was defeated 86-76 by Utah Valley (9-9, 1-2) Saturday night at the UCCU Center. LaVell Boyd (Chicago, Ill.) led the Roos with 22 points while Xavier Bishop (Springfield, Ill.) and Broderick Newbill (Kansas City, Mo.) both finished with 14 points.
The UMKC track and field record book saw one record fall as the Roos competed on day two of the Holiday Inn Invitational on the campus of the University of Nebraska, on Saturday afternoon.
Our morning started off relaxed with free time to either explore Montpellier or hang around our elegant hotel. The breakfast provided was classic French, with all sorts of delicious crepes and croissants to choose from. Some of the team decided to venture onto the cobblestone streets of Montpellier to check out the illustrious shops and stores the city has to offer. Others visited (and revisited) historic sites that we had a chance to discover on our walking tour during the previous evening.

UMKC tennis continues taking on Europe. Both the women's and men's teams started their fourth and last day in Barcelona with an early 9 a.m. hit for one last time before heading to Montpellier, France. Both teams had an hour and a half of intensity on hard courts this morning to get ready for competition in France.
UMKC (9-10, 2-1) men's basketball earned a hard-fought 83-79 victory over Seattle U (8-9, 0-2) Thursday night at KeyArena. The Roos drained 12 shots from beyond the 3-point arc and shot 45 percent from the field for the game. Kyle Steward (Detroit, Mich.) led the way with a career-high 21 points to go along with nine rebounds, two assists and a block in 30 minutes of action. LaVell Boyd (Chicago, Ill.) added 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
