Abilene, Texas – Fourteen second half points from redshirt junior India Johnson (Overland Park, Kan.) would prove to be the spark UMKC women's basketball needed, as the Roos posted a 71-68 overtime victory on the road against Abilene Christian on Saturday afternoon.
UMKC (6-3) was defeated 77-68 by South Dakota State (4-6) on Saturday at Frost Arena. LaVell Boyd (Chicago, Ill.) led the Roos with 19 points, six assists, five rebounds and a career-high five steals. Isaiah Ross (Davenport, Iowa) added 17 points, including five 3-pointers. Kyle Steward (Detroit, Mich.) finished with a career-high 16 points to go with six rebounds.
The UMKC track and field teams had two individuals pick up first-place finishes at the Bob Timmons Challenge in Lawrence, Kansas, on Friday.

The UMKC softball team and head coach Meredith Smith Neal have announced the signing of six players for the class of 2017. The class consists of three girls from Oklahoma, two from Texas and one from Illinois.
